Of course tattoos can be copyrighted. I don’t think there is any reasonable dispute about that. They are not copyrighting Mr. Tyson’s face, or restricting Mr. Tyson’s use of his own face, as the defendant argues, or saying that someone who has a tattoo can’t remove the tattoo or change it, but the tattoo itself and the design itself can be copyrighted, and I think it’s entirely consistent with the copyright law.

The American former boxer Mike Tyson has four tattoos of note. Three—at least two of them prison tattoos —are portraits of men he respects: tennis player Arthur Ashe, Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, and Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong. The fourth, a face tattoo influenced by the Māori style tā moko, was designed and inked by S. Victor Whitmill in 2003. Tyson associates it with the Māori being warriors and has called it his « warrior tattoo », a name that has also been used in the news media.
The unified champion is defined as a boxer that holds at least two world championships of major sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBC, IBF, or WBO) in their respective division. Around 2004, the World Boxing Association recognized three different types: the unified champion (two-titles holder in the weight division or category, obliged to defend the title against WBA’s No. 1 contender in 18 months periodically), the undisputed champion (three-title holder, mandatory defense against WBA’s challenger in 21 months regularly), and the super champion (four-title holder, WBA’s mandatory defense in 24 months periodically). The rules required only one unified/undisputed/super champion per weight class; the purse in the bid would be distributed in a 65/35 ratio in favor of the unified champion. However, along with the changes to « super » status (besides holding more than one title, the super titles were awarded to champions that were able to defend the WBA title 5 times), the term « undisputed » was dropped completely.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
During road work, Takamura saw high school student Ippo Makunouchi getting beaten by Masahiko Umezawa and his friends. Takamura intervened, driving the bullies away and reluctantly taking an unconscious Ippo to the gym. There, he expressed his disliking for both bullies and those who simply let themselves be bullied. In order to make the frustrated Ippo feel better before leaving, he taught him how to do a straight and encouraged him to defend himself next time. Noticing his well-built body and incredible strength, Takamura gave Ippo a video showing a collection of Mike Tyson’s knockouts, in an attempt to encourage him to practice boxing as a way of learning self-defence and relieve his stress.
Rachael A. Carmen et al. in the Review of General Psychology posit that Tyson’s face tattoo may be an example of « body ornamentation as a form of intimidation ». Charlie Connell and Edmund Sullivan in Inked describe it as having become « instantly iconic », while Vice’s Mitchell Sunderland ranks it as one of the two things Tyson is best known for, alongside biting off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear. Marie Hadley, in A History of Intellectual Property in 50 Objects, writes that the tattoo « has been described as one of the most distinctive tattoos in North America ». Its stature has increased over time, aided by Tyson and the 2009 comedy The Hangover, in which it is prominent on Tyson, who appears as a fictionalized version of himself. The tattoo has become strongly associated with Tyson and has made his persona more distinctive.
It was amazing! Really liked it, and it’s good if you’re wanting to get a real tattoo because it can give you an idea on what you want permanently. Detail was great, I’m definitely ordering from them again
Zhang was born in Beijing to Zhang Yuanxiao, an accountant and later economist, and Li Zhousheng, a kindergarten teacher. She has an older brother, Zhang Zinan, who was her manager. Zhang began her nine-year study of folk dance when she was 8; at 11, she joined the Affiliated Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy at her parents’ suggestion. While at this boarding school, she noticed how mean the other girls were to each other while competing for status amongst the teachers. Zhang disliked the attitudes of her peers and teachers so much that, on one occasion, she ran away from the school. In 1994, she won the performance award in the National Taoli Cup Dance Competition. She also appeared in a handful of TV commercials. In 1996, Zhang entered the Central Academy of Drama, majoring in acting.
